WelcomeWelcome to KathrynKemmis.com, the official website of an aspiring Graphic Design student at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. I’ve created this site for several reasons. First I’d like it to act as a digital portfolio for potential employers. Second, I wanted a way to let my family and friends know what I’ve been up to for the last few years. I broke my website down into five categories that consist of work I’ve done in my Graphic Design courses, work I’ve done in my Architecture courses (my former major), a weblog that will act as a personal journal, a gallery of various photos I’ve taken, and finally a copy of my resume. The most important function of this site is to display the work I’ve done in my courses at UWM. I’ve provided two links for every Graphic Design project; one leads to an outline of the project’s parameters, the other to a pdf file of the piece. I’ve also provided a copy of my Architecture portfolio as a pdf file consisting of 7 different projects I created during my sophomore year. I think the internet is an excellent way to communicate with potential employers, and I’m hoping this site will be instrumental in helping me land a job at an up and coming Graphic Design firm. The second reason I created this site was to showcase my talents as a photographer. I’ve been really lucky this past year in that I’ve been able to go to Europe twice; once with my parents on a two week vacation to Italy, Greece, and Turkey, and once with Alex on a week long vacation to Paris, France. In the summer of 2007 I plan to return to Italy to study Art History and Web Design at the Santa Reparata International School of the Arts in Florence. With any Art or Design major, I believe no education can be complete without travel. It allows the student to truly experience the pieces to their fullest.
